Hiroshi Nakaso was appointed chairman of a new organization to promote Tokyo as a global financial center. The new organization is known by its abbreviated name, “FinCity Tokyo”. He was appointed chairman of the Daiwa Institute of Research (DIR) in July 2018 after completing his term as Deputy Governor of the Bank of Japan. He served as the Deputy Governor of the BOJ since March 2013. In his 39 years at the Bank, his main responsibilities
have been crisis management of financial systems and markets focusing on global systems. He dealt with the homegrown financial crisis of the 1990s. He headed the exit operation from the Quantitative Easing Policy, a prototypical unconventional policy that lasted from 2001 to 2006. In addition, he played an instrumental role in addressing the Global Financial Crisis together with his peers at major central banks including the FRB.

Yukiko Ozaki is Senior Managing Director of Nomura Holdings, overseeing Group Human Resources. Ms.Ozaki is also Senior Managing Director of Nomura Securities, in charge of the Human Resources Department and Human Resources Development Department. Prior to being appointed as SMD in April 2020, Ms. Ozaki handled various senior roles in HR, including Head of Human Resources Wholesale Japan and Global Head of HR Advisory for Investment Banking and the overall Wholesale division. As head of HR, Ms. Ozaki lead numbers of major HR initiatives including the Japan HR Policy Reform, the global HR systems project and Japan HR transformation project. Ms. Ozaki joined Nomura Securities in 2008 through the Lehman Brothers integration, where she was leading the Investment Banking Division’s campus recruiting initiatives. Prior to joining Lehman Brothers, Ms. Ozaki spent 7 years at Deutsche Bank Group in the Global Banking Division’s CAO Group, where she monitored PL, tracked pipeline movement and transactions for the investment banking business, and oversaw people management within the division. Ms. Ozaki started her career as system engineer at Noevir Co., Ltd., where she served to develop and maintain their internal online network system. She was also engaged in rewriting their programs to prevent and solve Y2K related issues. Ms. Ozaki holds a B.A. in Management Information Systems from the University of South Alabama.

Born in 1966, Hara first performed jazz music while still in college, and began to pursue music in earnest after graduation. In the 1990s, he was at the forefront of a huge movement of young musicians in the Japanese jazz world. Since 1996’s “Evidence for My Music,” he has released more than 20 albums as a band leader, including several as co-leader, as well as appearing on many other albums. In addition to his own musical activities, he has made appearances in a wide variety of settings, including guest performances at “Suntory 10,000 Freude” and “Yutaka Sado’s Young People's Concert,” appearing on the TV program “Jounetsu Tairiku,” playing the opening themes for Takeshi Kitano’s film “Brother” and NHK-BS1’s “World News Hour,” appearing in and providing music for a Yamaha commercial, appearing on the music program “Untitled Concert,” and playing as a guest first trumpeter for the Hyogo Performing Arts Center Orchestra. He is also the musical director of Jazz EMP, an event fusing finance and jazz, which launched in 2018 and centers on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. He has performed with many top international artists and participated in many jazz events in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. Today, he mainly performs with his own unit, the Tomonao Hara Group, and is also active in education, giving clinics and music lectures throughout Japan.

Tomomi Suzuki is a part-time lecturer at the Faculty of Political Science and Economics, Kokushikan University, and a guest researcher at the Transnational HRM Research Institute, Waseda University. She is also a member of the press for the Japan National Press Club and a financial planner. In addition, she is a Jazz EMP ambassador, an ambassador for the comprehensive performing arts stage “Ichiryu Manbai A SEED,” and a personal colorist. Tomomi Suzuki holds a Master’s degree in Economics from Saitama University’s Graduate School of Humanities & Social Sciences, Department of Economics and Management. As Head of Sustainable Investment, Japan, Atsuhito is responsible for FTSE Russell’s Sustainable Investment indexes, data and analytics solutions in Japan. Atsuhito has been in asset management industry for 25 years. He started his career as hedge fund manager in 1995 and managed systematic CTA funds mainly for Japanese pensions and US fund of funds until 2013 as a registered CTA at CFTC. He joined the Dutch asset management company Robeco as investment officer in 2013 where he worked with investment teams at the Netherlands and was responsible for developing its Japanese business with ESG integrated products. YAMAJI Hiromi is the President and CEO of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, Inc. and Director and Representative Executive Officer as well as Group COO of the Japan Exchange Group, Inc. Since joining the group in June 2013 as CEO of the Osaka Exchange. Inc., he has led the developing of the strong derivatives arm of Japan Exchange Group. He now keeps leading this active role into the Japanese Equity Market after his appointment as CEO of the Tokyo Stock Exchange in April 2021.
Before joining the group, Mr YAMAJI had 36 years experience specialising in the investment banking area and served as Executive Vice President, and Head of Global Investment Banking at Nomura Securities Co., Ltd. During his professional career, he worked in Europe and the US for 18 years and served as President and CEO of Nomura Europe Holdings plc in London, and Chairman of Nomura Holding America Inc. in New York. He graduated from the Law Faculty at Kyoto University, and holds an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Gary has over 40 years’ experience in Financial Services working with Banking and Securities firms on domestic and cross border business. During the 1980s and early 1990s he worked in senior roles for several major global banks and securities firms in Japan, developing international business. Between 1992 and 2014 he worked outside Japan in Private Banking in Geneva and subsequently, in the UK as a consultant on Japanese Business. In 2007 he joined the major global firm EY in the UK, latterly becoming advisory leader for their Japanese financial services business in EMEIA. In 2014 he returned to Japan to EY Japan’s Financial Services Advisory Practice. He became Secretary General of the International Bankers Association of Japan in January 2019.Gary has strong Financial Services Business, Regulation and Technology knowledge and is a fluent Japanese speaker. He is also an early-stage technology investor.He is married with 3 children.

Jesper Koll

Jesper Koll has been researching and investing in Japan since becoming a resident in 1986. Over the past two decades, Jesper has been consistently recognized as one of the top Japan strategists/economists, having worked as Chief Strategist and Head of Research for U.S. investment banks J.P. Morgan and Merrill Lynch. He currently serves as Expert Director for the Monex Group and the Japan Catalyst Fund (Japan’s 1st retail investor based corporate engagement/activist fund). His analysis and insights have earned him a position on several Japanese government and corporate advisory committees. Jesper serves as Board Director of OIST, the Okinawa Institute for Science and Technology and is a Founder and Board Director of the Asia Society Japan and heads their Policy Committee. He is one of the few non-Japanese members of the Keizai Doyukai, the Japan Association of Corporate Executives; and serves on the board of several Japan-based start-ups. He has written three books in Japanese and, in 2021, created the acclaimed video/pod-cast series “Japan - Capitalism that works”. Jesper is an economist, angel-investor, patron; and yes, a Japan Optimist.
David Semaya

David Semaya is Executive Chairman and Representative Director of SUMITOMO MITSUI TRUST ASSET MANAGEMENT Co., Ltd. His thirty year career spans three continents in executive leadership roles in financial services across the US, Europe, and Asia. Now based in Tokyo, he joined SuMiTAM in April 2018. Previously, David served as Executive Chairman of Nikko Asset Management for four years both in London and in Tokyo. Prior to returning to Japan, he was with Barclays PLC as CEO of UK and Ireland Wealth Management, and Chairman of Barclays Asset Management Ltd. Prior to 2009, he served as CEO for Barclays Global Investors (now Blackrock) Europe and Asia. Until 2004, David was with Merrill Lynch and Co. in a variety of executive leadership positions in both Asset Management and Investment Banking in New York and Tokyo.
David was also formerly a Trustee Director for one of Europe’s largest pension funds and served on the board of the Investment Association and the Wealth Management Association (UK). He currently serves as Chairman of the ICI Pacific Policy Council. David holds a BA from The University of Florida, a Masters in Education from Temple University and has completed the Stanford/NUS Executive Program in International Management. He is a dual US/UK National and is fluent in the Japanese language.
Nicolas Mackel

Nicolas Mackel is CEO of Luxembourg for Finance, the Agency for the Development of the Financial Centre, since July 2013. Nicolas is a career diplomat. He has graduated with a law degree from the University of Aix-en-Provence, and holds two post‐graduate diplomas in European law from the Sorbonne University, respectively the College of Europe in Bruges where he the also served as a teaching assistant in the Law Department. He worked as a legal clerk at the European Court of Justice before joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1999. His assignments focused on the successive EU Treaty negotiations (Amsterdam, Nice, Constitution, Lisbon).
Nicolas was consecutively posted at Luxembourg's Permanent Representation to the EU (2002‐07), as Deputy Chief of Mission at Luxembourg's Embassy in Washington DC (2007‐11) and as Consul General in Shanghai (2011‐13) where he was in charge of promoting Luxembourg's economic interests throughout China as the Executive Director of the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office.

FINANCIAL SERVICES REGULATORY AUTHORITY OF ABU DHABI GLOBAL MARKET
Mr Philippe Richard joined the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) of Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) in October 2015. He heads the regulatory-related international activities and collaborations with key international organisations and national regulators. He support the FSRA in maintaining an active communication and contribution to discussions on fostering global financial stability and shaping international financial regulatory reforms. Prior to joining ADGM’s FSRA, Philippe was the Director of the International Affairs Department at the French Autorité de Contrôle Prudentiel et de Résolution (ACPR) overseeing all matters related to prudential and accounting regulations in the banking and insurance sectors. He was a member of the Advisory Board of the United Arab Emirates Securities and Commodities Authority between 2008 and 2009. From 2001 to 2008, he was the Secretary General of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO). During his tenure at IOSCO, Philippe was actively involved in the development of the Multilateral Agreement for the exchange of information and in the implementation of the IOSCO Principles. In his earlier career, Philippe was also a Personal Assistant to Jacques de Larosière, the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) from 1993 to 1997.

Arnaud de Bresson was born in 1955. He graduated from Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (1978), University of Paris II (1978) and University of Paris X (1977).
Since 1993, Arnaud de Bresson is Managing Director of Paris EUROPLACE, the organisation whose role is to promote the French financial marketplace.
Paris EUROPLACE gathers the major players of the Paris financial market place, French and international issuers, investors, banks and financial institutions, as well as the market Authorities. Arnaud de Bresson is also Managing Director of the Institut Europlace de Finance (EIF), created in 2003, and Vice-President of FINANCE INNOVATION, the Paris international financial services cluster launched in 2007.
From 1985 to 1992, he was Director of TGF (a fund management company part of the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations group) and Managing Director of FICOM (financial communications). From 1981 to 1985, he was Project Manager for AFME (Agence française pour la maîtrise de l’énergie), after being a financial Analyst in the “Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations,” in 1980 and 1981.
He is Board Member of AFFINE (a listed real estate company). He is also Board Member of the Investment Corporate Governance Network (ICGN), The Institut Français des Administrateurs (IFA) and the Comité France-Chine.
